Optionally, the offer includes adaptive dampers.

2022 Cadillac XT4 News
The 2019 Cadillac XT4 was launched, giving the luxury automaker its first entry into the C-Class luxury crossover segment. Since then, the XT4 has established a strong position in the segment and is already competing with well-established competitors from Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Lexus, and Acura, while also fending off new entries from Volvo and Lincoln, as well as secondary competitors from Mercedes. Benz and BMW, which now offer two models in the same segment. Cadillac initially planned to update the XT4 for 2022, but the update to the Cadillac XT4 has now been delayed by a year due to setbacks related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The updated Cadillac XT4, now expected for 2023, is expected to provide styling updates and interior upgrades, along with improvements to the vehicle’s technology. The semi-autonomous SuperCruise is also expected to make its way to the updated CUV.
The XT4 isn’t the only futuristic Cadillac model affected by the virus. The next high-performance versions of the CT4 and CT5 sedans, the CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing, are also late by about six months, potentially outpacing the models by a typical year.
Cadillac and its parent company, General Motors, seem to be prioritizing new and redesigned models over upgrades, known colloquially (albeit somewhat incorrectly) as “facelifts.” This is because for new models, most of the development, validation, supply, and assembly work has been completed and paid for, which is not the case for many upgrades, which are not yet complete from development and validation. In addition, new models represent the best return on investment, which is much needed at a time when sales are slowing and losses are increasing. The good news is that other updates within Cadillac and its parent company’s product groups have been delayed, but none have been completely canceled, at least for the time being.
Meanwhile, the next batch of Cadillac EV models is on the way, and none of them have been delayed, postponed, or canceled as of this writing. The only exception to this is the postponement of the Cadillac Lyriq concept reveal event.
Cadillac and its mother have lost about two months of production of cars currently for sale as a result of the COVID-19 virus. Most factories in North America closed mid-March to protect workers from the virus, and facilities began reopening on May 18.
While we wait for the now-delayed Cadillac XT4 update, we can at least look forward to the changes in store for 2021, which, as reported exclusively by the Cadillac community, should include the addition of Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the availability of red brake calipers as an option, and exterior colors. New and some other minor changes and updates.

2022 Cadillac XT4 Update
The XT4 is Cadillac’s smallest SUV and is a good choice among a competing group that includes the Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLB and Volvo XC40.
In our ranking, the XT4 scores well. It gets a TCC rating of 6.5 out of 10 thanks to its good looks and great technology, even if rear seat space is limited and its feature set can be paltry in some settings. (Read more about how cars are classified.)
What’s new in the Cadillac XT4 2022?
The 2022 XT4 has been changed with very little change this year, after some tweaking for 2021.
This stylish crossover SUV has clean, elegant lines that help it stand out from its competitors and the Cadillac family as a whole. Its interior isn’t quite as elegant as its exterior, but the leather upholstery can dress it up well enough.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine generates 237 horsepower at the front or all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. The XT4 is slightly larger than its competitors, which helps explain a somewhat heavy curb weight of just under 4,000 pounds.
This weight helps the XT4 feel comfortable. Handling is efficient on all models and fairly sporty on the level of sporty trim, you guessed it, with adaptive dampers. We’re not too happy with the XT4’s strong brakes or average fuel economy (the figure is about 25 mpg combined).
In terms of comfort, the XT4 is good but not exceptional. On the security front, find all the basics, and most versions have parking sensors and blind spot monitors. The crash test results have been good so far.
How much will a 2022 Cadillac XT4 cost?
The Cadillac XT4 sells Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport models. The lineup starts at under $40,000 with all-wheel drive and you can quickly climb from there. Stick to basic luxury and add a few options to keep things under $45,000 and you should be happy with your choice.
Perhaps Cadillac’s distinctive styling cues work better on the XT4 than on its larger siblings. Its wide grille is surrounded by intricate headlights that protrude from the fenders and fenders. The look is repeated at the rear with boomerang-style taillights.
It’s a 7 out of 10 for style on our scale. If only the inside was too sexy. The dashboard curves across the cockpit of the XT4 with a soft-touch material stud. It is unobtrusive and convenient, which somewhat compensates for the 8.0-inch touch screen in its center; It is smaller than the widescreen displays offered by its competitors.
The 2022 XT4 looks more sporty than it is, although its turbocharged engine has good power and a comfortable ride.
Cadillac charges $2,500 for the all-wheel drive system that defaults to the fuel-efficient two-wheel drive mode. The system is less convenient than competitors’ systems and does not require any extra thought when the road becomes slippery.
With 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque from a 2.0-liter turbo, the XT4 delivers decent power. The 9-speed automatic transmission takes full advantage of what’s out there, plus there’s a hint of lag immediately when you get off the throttle.
The XT4 has good traction on the road. It’s not entirely sporty, even in the Sport model with this model’s adaptive dampers. But it’s sharper than the larger Cadillac XT5, and its ride quality is pretty impressive given its short wheelbase and high wheelset fitted on most versions.
That all sounds great until we get to the XT4’s brakes. The system is completely electronic, at least between the pedal and the amplifier, and unfortunately it looks artificial. You will probably get used to the jolts. May be. Maybe not
Overall, the XT4 scored 6 points. We love its engine and transmission, but its brakes push it back 7 to 6 points.
Comfort and quality
The 2022 XT4 is well-equipped on the inside, albeit a bit cramped in its cargo-carrying capabilities. The XT4 may be Cadillac’s cheapest SUV, but it doesn’t feel like it inside. Well-shaped front seats and good cargo space raise it to a 7 out of 10 on our scale. However, it is not as spacious on the inside as its rather large dimensions on the outside suggest.
The XT4’s interior is upholstered in faux leather, but real leather is an inexpensive option in the luxury model, and higher-end versions feature heated and cooled front axles and all-day comfort massages. Second row legroom is good thanks to nearly 40 inches of legroom, although three a day is an illusion.
Fold the second row up and the XT4’s cargo area will expand to about 50 cubic feet, but save less than half with the second row upright.
The 2022 Cadillac XT4 did well in crash tests and comes with a good suite of technologies.
Right now, the 2022 Cadillac XT4 has an 8 out of 10 on our scale. That number could rise when the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety completes a barrage of crash tests. In federal testing, the XT4 received an overall five-star rating.
All XT4s come with automatic emergency brakes and multiple airbags. Adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitors and automatic high beams are optional. The outside view is a challenge, so some of the additional driver assistance features may be worth it.
The 2022 XT4 is well-equipped and could be a good value, but keep an eye on the bottom line once you start to pile on the options.
Overall, we rate 7 out of 10 2022 Cadillacs for value based on standard equipment and infotainment.
The basic luxury version costs about $37,000, plus another $2,500 for all-wheel drive. We’ll spend more on heated leather seats and more luxurious paint, as well as a Driver Awareness Package that adds some driver assistance. If you are an audiophile, consider the Bose sound system. Even then, it’s $41,000 or so, and that includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
A little more and you’ll want to move up to the Premium Luxury version, although that’s where the XT4’s value equation starts to erode. Still, it’s a gateway to seat massages and adaptive cruise control, but before you know it, you’ll have to foot a $50,000 bill.
The Sport trim level is priced a bit higher, though adaptive dampers improve handling a bit.
How much does a fully charged 2022 Cadillac XT4 cost?
You could spend more than that—nearly $55,000—but at that price, there are bigger and more attractive SUVs on the market. The XT4 has a 4-year/50,000-mile warranty, although the automaker is a bit stingy against its luxury competitors by not including more than the first maintenance visit to the dealer.
Not great, although 25 mpg combined is good enough for a 4 out of 10. The EPA rates the front-wheel drive XT4 at 24 city, 30 highway, and 26 mpg combined. The four-wheel drive system drops those numbers to 22/29/24 mpg.
