2022 GMC Yukon Inside Design
To confirm some of these rumors, there are spy photos. Still enough time for development, the 2022 GMC Yukon is already on the streets, testing new parts. Which we don’t know. Heavy camouflage covers most of his body. Small changes in the front and rear will modernize the SUV. The facelift comes five years after the current generation GMC Yukon was launched as part of a mid-cycle redesign.
2022 GMC Yukon Powertrain Options
The new Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 are sister trucks. Both will have a diesel engine for the upcoming season. After just one year, the 2022 GMC Yukon can borrow a Duramax unit. This seems to be more possible given that SUVs use the same petrol units as half-ton trucks. If this rumor comes true, the Yukon diesel will get a powertrain capable of making about 250 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. On the other hand, lower fuel consumption gets a big boost, as well as off-road capabilities.
The variety of models under the Yukon logo is one of the reasons this board is so popular. The SUV comes standard as the base 2022 GMC Yukon. The full-size model can grow even larger with the addition of another 20-inch Yukon XL, while the wheelbase remains the same. On the other hand, the height and width are also identical. This car, the 2022 Yukon also offers the Denali high-end SUV. Packed with all the latest features, it’s one of the most luxurious large SUV’s on the market. The only real competitor to this is the Lincoln Navigator. Unique accessories will make this model eye-catching, both inside and out.
GMC Yukon 2022 specifications
The 2022 GMC Yukon will undergo a facelift, but the main changes are cosmetic. Under the hood of the SUV, there’s still a 5.3L V-8 engine as the base option. The powertrain is capable of producing 355 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Power goes to the front wheels by default. Four-wheel drive is optional.
Another option is the 6.2-liter V8. The larger unit is more powerful, with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet. There is the same gearbox for this engine, while the timing goes to all wheels. More power also means better fuel consumption. The difference between the 5.3L and 6.2L units is not decisive.
2022 GMC Yukon Concept
The redesign will bring changes to the 2022 GMC Yukon. For the base model, something’s definitely going on, as heavy tires hide everything in the test mules. That being said, the 2022 Yukon XL could add another 3-4 inches to its overall length. The most exciting model, Yukon Denali, is preparing to prepare new combinations of premium features and accessories. With these, the automaker will consolidate the number one position in the full-size luxury SUV segment.

2022 GMC Yukon News
The GMC Yukon will remain unchanged for the 2022 model year, but that doesn’t mean the big SUV is getting squishy. Yukon received an extensive redesign for 2021 with an emphasis on interior space and technology. Compared to the previous generation, the current Yukon is more people- and cargo-friendly, and it’s a leap forward in safety and infotainment features.
Last year’s change to an independent rear suspension system resulted in a 41 percent increase in third-row legroom and 30 percent more luggage space. Yukon can seat up to eight passengers, plus 25.5 cubic feet of stuff. With the second and third rows folded, capacity increases to 122.9 cubic feet. The Yukon XL Long offers 41.1 cubic feet with a full crew on board, and a truly cavernous 144.7 cubic feet with the rows down.
Each Yukon comes with a 10.2-inch floating touchscreen, HD and satellite radio, seven USB ports, a nine-speaker Bose audio system, wireless device charging, CarPlay wireless app and Android Auto. All models can be equipped with a rear dual-screen multimedia system.
The standard interior features leather upholstery and heated electric front seats. The mid-level SLT is available with second and third-row power folds, driver memory settings, a power-heated steering wheel and a panoramic sunroof. These features are standard on the top-of-the-line Denali, along with improved leather and original wood inlays.
Most Yukon models will likely carry a 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Denali has a 6.2-liter V8 that delivers 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The engine list includes an optional 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six that delivers an impressive combined efficiency of 23 mpg based on EPA estimates for an SUV of this size. All-wheel drive is available with any engine and comes standard on the off-road AT4. With the right equipment, the Yukon can tow up to 8,400 pounds.
Yukon continues to offer a full suite of driver assistance features, including automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and front and rear parking sensors. The Denali goes even further with its surround-view cameras, adaptive cruise control, and a 15-inch head-up display. A trailer cam system with nine different views is available on all models.
Price and release date
The 2022 Yukon is expected to hit dealerships this summer. We expect prices to remain close to current levels. The 2021 Yukon line ranges from $51,995 including destination to $69,695 for Denali pre-options. The GMC Yukon will compete with the Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevy Suburban and Lincoln Navigator.

2022 GMC Yukon Update
If you have a large family and need a tug on your adventures, you’re probably considering a classic body-on-body SUV for your next vehicle. Until recently, you had to make some sacrifices to get this kind of ability. But cars like the 2022 GMC Yukon show that modern big SUVs don’t require the kind of compromises that their predecessors did.
First, the bad news. Yes, the Yukon is still thirsty, hard to drive around tight corners, and hard to navigate in crowded urban environments. But last year’s complete redesign has introduced a number of improvements under the skin that make it easier to tame this beast on a daily basis. The new independent rear suspension works wonders for ride comfort and helps lower the trunk floor for easier access to the load. The elongated wheelbase opens the third row—putting adults aft on a road trip is no longer considered a violation of the Eighth Amendment. The number of available tech features and driving aids give the Yukon an impression of modernity.
There are inherent downsides to driving a full-size vehicle, but the 2022 GMC Yukon shows that many bad habits of body-on-body SUVs can be undone through intelligent design and attention to detail. After an overhaul last year, we don’t expect many changes to the 2022 model. So if you’re looking for a full-size, all-around SUV, be sure to check out the 2021 GMC Yukon.
