The manufacturer officially previewed the car in a series of test images last month, but now, as development work continues, a pre-production prototype provides clues as to what to expect from the final car.

Since it’s a custom-built all-electric model, there’s no need to pack a conventional powertrain up front, allowing for a lower nose, Baumann added. “The Macan’s electrical design is the next step, but it will be immediately recognizable,” he said, despite the fact that it “has no common body structure” with the current Macan.
Although the current Macan received a facelift in fall 2018, four years after its launch, the model is now likely to live longer than originally planned, as Porsche hedges its powertrain bets. Another facelift will be revealed in the coming weeks, primarily focused on updating the technology and model range.
Meschke suggested that the overlap of all-electric and internal combustion machines would be “a few years”. The adoption of electric vehicles is increasing, but at different rates in different countries, not least because the infrastructure appears patchy and is not always reliable.
It is difficult to say when this transformation will end. “It varies by region,” Bowman said. However, Meschke predicts that “30-40%” of Porsche cars sold will be fully electric within five years.
Baumann added that the new Macan “will maintain the DNA of the previous model. It’s our biggest seller. We’ll keep the spirit. It’s the sportiest model in its class.”
Despite the PPE engineering’s performance potential, which delivers in less than 3.0 seconds from 0 to 62 mph with the Taycan, the Macan EV won’t be a coupe-SUV. “We need to maintain daily usability,” Baumann said. “It’s usually the main car in the house.”
The electric version will offer all-wheel drive, using a motor to drive each axle. The more powerful version will likely be able to deliver around 700 horsepower and 750 lb-ft, though Porsche will want to keep a performance distance between it and the Taycan. The electric Macan will be offered with a range of powers below this level, but the two most powerful versions will have the Turbo and Turbo S badge, as well as the Taycan.
In addition to offering excellent road handling, the high degree of precision provided by the electronic control of the motors and wheels should allow the Macan EV to be highly effective off-road.

2023 Porsche Macan GTS Update

Porsche is said to continue the trim level naming scheme, so you get used to seeing turbos in the back of electric machines like the Taycan.
At least one Porsche official has been quoted as saying that production of the Macan EV will begin in late 2022. The standard Macan will likely be a few months ahead of it. With the added cost of batteries, we think the electric Macan will be the most expensive powertrain, possibly starting at $65,000.
