It can be great fun to ride a wild donkey off the back of a 4 wheeled vehicle, but there are a few precautions you should take. Do not ever let a wild donkey pull you off the road, no matter how tempted you may be to leave your vehicle running in the direction of the animal. Do not ever try to pull a wild donkey on your own. The best thing you can do is have someone help you on your journey.
Do not approach the animal without first giving it a wide berth. They are wild animals and if they see another human in their path they will quickly become aggressive. If you are approached by a donkey while it is on its way out, do not attempt to pull it away from you. This will only make things worse and could result in serious injury. Do not, under any circumstances, touch or push the animal.
Do not allow any children to ride on or near the donkey. Children are naturally curious and have a tendency to step on them, especially if they see a strange animal on a road. It is not uncommon for children to get into the act as well and believe that they are playful. Unfortunately this can result in serious bodily injury if they push the wild animal which is stronger than they are.
Never allow a wild donkey into a populated area. It is quite possible for one to be hit by a car if they are not secured properly. This is why it is essential to secure them properly before allowing them to wander free. Remember, a car cannot ignore a donkey if it is in the road, and if the donkey starts to get close to a car it can ram it and will almost certainly run away.
Never place a donkey in a fenced area. This is because it will quickly get into the grass and soil and will be impossible to find their way out. In the wild a donkey will often go off on pathways made by fungi. You can safely entrust such a creature into a fenced area. Once in the fenced area it is a wise decision to keep the animal away from people.
When visiting a wild donkey preserve make sure you do not feed it. A wild donkey will eat anything that it can get its hooves on. As such, if you intend to feed it, be sure to remove all of its natural food as well as its treats. Make sure the animal has something to drink at all times to ensure that it does not become dehydrated.
