In Dominique Aegerter's debut novel, The Lingerie Party, the story takes place at an annual lingerie party. This is the time for Dominique to get away from her job and spend some quality time with her girlfriends, but when she goes out to a party that will have one of her closest friends as the prom queen, Dominique gets a bit caught up in things that she wasn't able to spend time on before the event. When her friend, the Prom Queen, goes missing, Dominique begins to suspect her of being a spy for someone in the upper echelons of the party – and soon she finds out that something very sinister is going on. While her girlfriends get closer to uncovering the mystery, Dominique tries to make her way to the truth herself, so she doesn't lose track of everything she's supposed to be doing.
Dominique was kind enough to share with me a few of her favorite scenes in this novel. So, without further ado, here are the seven most interesting scenes in Dominique Aegerter's debut novel, The Lingerie Party. You'll see that the storyline is very much like what it should be. And, as I mentioned, these scenes all occur during the same day.
Dominique finds herself in a bar with her girlfriends after the prom. They're all having drinks, talking and having fun, until they notice a man wearing a black suit sitting in the corner. When the girls approach him, he introduces himself as Mr. Gavril. He explains that he is taking his break, so he can take a look around at the party. He tells them that he's in a meeting, but that he would like to give them a ride, so they come with him. They say thanks, and he leaves the bar. While everyone is getting bored, Dominique notices Mr. Gavril following her.
Dominique finds herself at home, but she gets distracted by something she overhears. Then she hears a voice telling her about what she is and who she is meant for. She can't help but listen in, until the voice reveals that it's her real mom. – and that she has been taken from her family because of her own actions. Dominique immediately deduces that her real mom is trying to get her to join the party, and get her to “fall for her” – but she isn't sure if she's up to that idea.
Dominique is back at the bar, but when she sees her mom again, she knows she's in trouble. She gets caught up in the game and finds herself in Mr. Gavril's office, where he's waiting for her. Dominique tries to convince her mother to let her get away from the party, but the woman refuses. Dominique gets scared of her mom and runs off, leaving behind her friend, the Prom Queen, who tells Dominique about what happened. Dominique finds herself alone at the party, but finds herself thinking about her mom's death.
She later calls her friend and informs her of what she has discovered. The Prom Queen is there, but Dominique doesn't call her back. However, when she tells her mom, she finds out that Mr. Gavril isn't the Prom Queen at all – but actually her father. In fact, it is her father's friend who is the Prom Queen and she had met him on the Internet while playing online games. It turns out that Mr. Gavril is a spy for someone higher up in the party – and he had no choice but to meet her there. in order to get her to fall for him. – and he wants to know who she is, so he can get closer to her.
