2022 Audi Q5 Preview Update News Specs
2022 Audi Q5. Audi, like other luxury automakers, is actively revising its investment portfolios for 2022. Audi, like the majority of its rivals, is focusing on the introduction of hybrid and electric vehicles. The hybrid version of the Q5 will be replaced in 2022. The vehicle will be known as the 2022 Audi Q5 Hybrid or e-Tron Quattro, and it will be the company’s third E-Tron model. Scheduled for release in late 2023, the Q5 hybrid will close in on the horns with the release of the Lexus RX450h.
2022 Audi Q5 Powertrain Options
The 2022 Audi Q5 USP Hybrid is its own engine. The car will be equipped with the company’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, which produces 188 horsepower. The electric motor adds another 108 horsepower and 221 lb-ft.
The installation also includes a seven-speed automatic gearbox. The lithium-ion battery that powers the motor ensures the car can only run on electric power for a select range of 31 miles. The dynamic suspension system will be retained in the predecessor. Audi will use some form of fast battery charging technology – similar to competitors in this department.
Currently, there are spy photos of the hybrid version of the Audi Q5 2022. The new hybrid differs a bit with respect to the typical variants in the Q5 lineup because it is. But there are two external design cues. This version will also get an exceptional network. The octagonal grille is wider and includes vertical chrome slats. The taillight assembly can also be somewhat different compared to the regular Q5 versions.
Unfortunately, we don’t have internal photos at the moment. But from some resources, the cottage will be just as futuristic and technically identical as in the Q5 Foundation Edition. The material used in it will be of high class. Also expect comfortable, leather-trimmed and heated seats. It will also have a digital instrument display installed in the Virtual Cockpit. Storage wise, the charging space will be enough.
2022 Audi Q5 Concept
The 2022 Audi Q5 Hybrid is also expected to be loaded with sufficient security features and quite a few contemporary amenities will be contained. The vehicle will be equipped with various external cameras and radars to collect data and images to alert the driver about traffic and roads.
It is clear that the car will have the latest version of Audi’s infotainment system. GPS and Bluetooth support will be present. It may also contain some type of independent driving technician. Some advanced features may also be optional.
2022 Audi Q5 Release Date And Cost
The exact cost of the 2022 Audi Q5 Hybrid is unknown. But it’s only natural that the company is pricing it on the regular Q5 version. It will hit the streets in late 2023 according to promotions. Like Volvo, Audi is considering committing to issuing a monthly subscription.
The design and comfort of the 2022 Audi Q5 Hybrid will be top notch. The hybrid powertrain would be one of the best in this segment. While the cost will be prohibitive, you do get adequate amenities and great overall performance.

2022 Audi Q5 News
While not the most attractive SUV to drive, the 2022 Audi Q5 and Q5 Sportback offer a refined look, a host of sophisticated features and a refined nature. Two engine combinations – a 261-hp four-cylinder or a 362-hp hybrid – are offered with the Audi quattro all-wheel drive standard in both versions. From the touchscreen infotainment system to the available digital gauge cluster, the Q5 is designed to impress technology enthusiasts. Competitors such as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, BMW X3 and Porsche Macan are more exciting to drive on a twisty road while the Q5 is tuned for everyday comfort than straightforward performance. Leave that in the hottest SQ5, which we review separately.
Audi has standardized the exterior of the S-Line with its 2022 Q5 range along with a new design of 18-inch wheels. Premium Plus mid-range trim now includes a power-adjustable steering column; The Audi Black Optics Display Package is now optional and includes black exterior trim and unique 20-inch alloy wheels. The plug-in hybrid model now comes standard with sport seats.
Audi Q5 powertrains are marked with the numbers 45 and 55, the first indicating the standard four turbo and the last indicating an optional plug-in hybrid setup. We’ll let you choose between the regular Q5 and the coupe-like Q5 Sportback, but we recommend sticking with the 45. Of those, the mid-range Premium Plus offers the best balance of features and price, and comes standard with Audi’s virtual digital display.
Engine, Transmission And Performance
The 2022 Q5 features a standard 261-hp four-cylinder engine, a seven-speed automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive. The Turbo 4’s engine delivers plenty of punch to propel the Q5 around town or cruising down the highway on the highway, and it’s smooth, quiet and melodious. On our test track, the Q5 with this base drivetrain delivered 5.5 seconds to 60 mph. The plug-in hybrid variant adds an electric motor that boosts production to 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, which Audi claims will improve acceleration. The suspension of this luxurious crossover is well combined and provides a feeling of stability on the road or driving conditions. The ride is smooth and disciplined – with or without the optional adaptive suspension – even on dug asphalt. The steering is precise and lightweight but offers no visible feedback from the front wheels. In dynamic driving mode, the steering feels heavier but still artificial. Drop the Q5 down two twisty lanes and you’ll handle it just fine, but the Porsche Macan will show you a much better time.
Real-World Fuel Economy And MPG
EPA estimates for the Q5 will provide 23 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The plug-in hybrid variant has a combined rating of 27 mpg and an electric range of just 19 miles. On the road to our 75-mph fuel-economy test, the Q5 with its base powertrain matches an EPA rating of 28 mpg; We haven’t had a chance to test the Q5 with the optional plug-in hybrid powertrain yet. For more information on the Q5’s fuel economy, visit the EPA website.
2022 Audi Q5 Inside Design
The Q5 offers enough space for four adults to feel comfortable and offers many high-end features, even on the base Premium model. The cabin is quiet with speed and easy to get in and out of. Climbing through three trim levels – Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige – attracts more luxury features, including Audi’s impressive digital instrument cluster. When it comes to the number of boxes that fit our carry-on, the Q5 isn’t impressive. It beats the smaller Tiger, but only accommodates 18 boxes with the rear seats folded. The Q5’s rear seat back folds easily in 40/20/40 fashion, however, providing flexibility that the Lexus RX lacks.
Information, Entertainment And Communication
Even the cheapest Q5 buyers will enjoy the intuitive infotainment system displayed on the 10.1-inch dashboard screen. Most infotainment features are expected in the base Q5, including a Wi-Fi hotspot and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. Things get even more interesting if you switch to the Premium Plus or Prestige rims, as they come with a reconfigurable digital gauge cluster called the Audi Virtual Cockpit. It offers a 12.3-inch wide navigation map display plus select media, phone controls, trip computer, speed, tachometer, or a combination of these.
Safety And Driver Assistance Features
The Q5 comes standard with driver-assist technologies, such as automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning. More help is available on more expensive models. For more information about Q5 crash test results, visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Key security features include:
Warranty And Maintenance Coverage
The Audi Q5 warranty coverage is average, and many competitors offer longer coverage periods. New Q5 buyers can take advantage of the complimentary service for the first 10,000-mile scheduled service visit.

As for the exterior, the S-Line Appearance Package is standard while the interior gets an Audi Virtual Cockpit on all models. Powered by a 261-hp 2.0-liter turbo I-4 engine as standard, there’s also a 2022 Audi Q5 Plug-in Hybrid that adds an electric motor to improve fuel economy. Being a top seller for the brand, the Sportback is available separately with the same specs. Furthermore, Audi is also offering the 2022 e-Tron Q5 with a range of 222 miles by the end of 2022.
The 2022 Audi Q5 carries the same specs and features as the 2022 model. It’s all ready for sale in Fall 2022, and there’s a $700 price increase across trim levels and changes including the S-Line Appearance Package and Audi Virtual Cockpit for the interior as standard equipment. If you want a different body with the same specs and features, Audi is also offering the 2022 Q5 Sportback for an MSRP of $48,500. While the standard Q5 offers the 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4, there’s also an option 2022 Audi Q5 Plug-In Hybrid that adds an electric motor and offers a combined 65 mpg range.
With Audi coming out entirely with its e-Tron range, the Q5 will also go electrified when the 2022 Audi Q5 e-Tron arrives later this year. The good news for those waiting is that it has a larger battery that promises an electric range of 222 miles now. For those who want more aggressive performance, Audi is also offering the 2022 Audi SQ5 with a 349-hp 3.0-liter V6 from $53,000 onwards with no options.
Added Audi Virtual Cockpit To Premium Trim
Being a top seller for automakers, the 2022 Audi Q5 has a huge burden to carry in a highly competitive segment. Among the toughest competitors in the Q5 2022 are the BMW X3, Mercedes Benz GLC-Class and Volvo XC60. Other honors have been given to Land Rover Discovery Sport, Range Rover Velar, Acura RDX, Genesis GV70, Infiniti QX50, Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Porsche Macan, Lincoln Corsair, Lexus NX, and Cadillac XT5.
Continuing the legacy of the previous year, the Audi Q5 2022 offers the same three trim levels, Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige, each built on the basis of the previous trim. Prices are up by an average of $700 across the trim range and MSRP starts at $44,000 onwards for the premium base base. Another change for this year is the standardization of the S-Line Appearance Package on all models, which was previously an optional addition.
Trim Premium starts things off for the title with an MSRP of $44,000 and thus comes with very basic features one would expect as standard. The Prestige at MSRP of $56,500 is the best bad boy, and therefore comes with the best features across the board. The Premium Plus balances out in the middle with the standard Audi Virtual Cockpit and a larger 8.3-inch touchscreen display with a sticker price of $50,000.
Open the hood of the Audi Q5 2022 and you’ll see the same 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that powered the Mustang last year. It’s also the same quad model that comes standard on the Audi A6. This engine is fully capable of producing a total of 261 horsepower with 273 pound-feet of torque. This is connected to a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) arrangement that has proven time and time again to deliver power to all wheels via the Quattro AWD transmission. The 2022 Audi SQ5 comes with a 349-hp 3.0-liter V6 while the Q5 PHEV adds an electric motor to the 2.0-liter unit and produces 342 hp.
Whether you’re on the road or traversing town, the Q5 2022 combines prowess to deliver a decent driving experience in all situations. The steering is perfectly weighted while the suspension does a great job of smoothing out road imperfections. The interior is kept quiet and even the big bumps are no challenge to the calm, quiet ride quality. The transmission does an excellent job of providing power to the wheels, and you can have that confidence to lower them whenever you want. While the SQ5 stiffens the suspension for a sportier feel, the 2022 Audi Q5 PHEV delivers a comfortable ride with more oomph from a blast bike.
While it destined for a reasonable family car, like the German, performance is in his blood. Pedal floor and 2022 Audi Q5 accelerates from 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds while the quarter-mile sprints in 14.2 seconds. On the other hand, the 2022 SQ5 impresses by lowering the acceleration time by 0.5 seconds. To make up for its performance, the brakes are also stronger at 13.3 inches and 13 inches at the front and rear, respectively. This allows the car to stop from 60 to 0 mph at 114 feet which is pretty decent for this segment.
In this lineup, the Audi Q5 races to the winning track with ease with maximum power, the best acceleration time and a relatively lower price tag. The Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class ranks second in terms of engine specs, but falls back into place in the 0-60 mph sprint. The quarter mile is where the GLC-Class takes another step to challenge the Q5. The XC60 delivers decent power, the lowest price in its class, and is in no rush to break any acceleration records for its time. The BMW X3, on the other hand, has the least amount of power but gives the Merc stiff competition at 0-60 mph.
The 2022 Audi Q5 keeps the four-cylinder powertrain from last year, and as such, the MPG numbers remain the same as well. While driving in the city, you’ll get 23 mpg gas mileage, and highway fuel economy pumps up to 28 mpg. This results in a fuel economy of 25 mpg that is one of the best in its class and the same as the Q5 Sportback.
Combined with the 18.5-gallon fuel tank, you get a total combined mileage of 462 miles which is pretty decent for a family trip. If you’re looking to get better fuel economy numbers, you’d be better off getting the 2022 Audi Q5 Plug-in Hybrid with 65 MPGe combined or the upcoming 2022 Q5 e-Tron which offers an electric range of up to 222 miles.
In its competition, the BMW X3 takes the cake with the best fuel economy figures but offers the smallest fuel tank capacity. The Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class and Volvo XC60 offer the same fuel economy in city and road, but the Merc offers lower combined mileage. The Audi Q3 comes in second place due to its slightly lower fuel economy.
Are There Any Changes To The Interior Of The Audi Q5 2022?
The interior of the Audi Q5 2022 is the place to deal with leather on almost all major surfaces along with hard-touch plastic that’s soft-touch that’s durable but doesn’t feel cramped. The multifunction steering wheel with the Audi Virtual Cockpit comes as a digital driver display on all three models this year. The seats get leather upholstery throughout from the start and offer power adjustment. From the mid-level Premium Plus, you also get memory for the driver’s seat.
The front seats are bolstered and spacious and comfortable even for tall men with 40.9 inches of legroom and 39.6 inches of headroom. And even if you install your seat completely aft, it won’t take up much in the rear cab. The rear seats are well-spaced with just 2 inches of less legroom than the front which means people of all sizes can sit comfortably. In terms of SUV practicality, you also get a generous 25.8 cubic feet of cargo space.
In this lineup, the XC60 offers the most spacious cabin at the cost of less storage space. The Audi Q5 is almost on par with the XC60 but offers more cargo space. The BMW X3 looks like an archenemy with cabin space similar to the Q5 and offers the best luggage space. The GLC-Class has the smallest cabin with one of the lower cargo compartments. In terms of infotainment, you get a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a decent audio system.
For audiophiles, the Prestige offers a 19-speaker Bang and Olufsen 3D surround sound system. The user interface is straightforward, and while there’s a learning curve to it, it’s pretty short. You also get all the connectivity technologies like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, WiFi hotspot and even USB. Some of the premium interior and infotainment features of the Audi Q5 2022 are:
What Are The Safety Ratings And Safety Features Of The Audi Q5 2022?
Audi may not excel in driving technology as the BMW Bavaria, however, and it’s no joke either. The Audi Q5 2022 remains unchanged, so the safety rating from 2022 is sufficient. In crash tests conducted by NHTSA, the 2022 Audi Q5 received an impeccable 5-star safety rating. It was also rated highly by IIHS in the fifth quarter of 2022 with an overall rating of “good”.
Thanks to the technology and safety features installed in the 2022 Audi Q5, the Audi Q5 won the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award and an overall rating of “Good”. This is a testament to the fact that Audi leaves no cost savings and there is no need to work unnoticed to ensure that its cars are safe. While many features are available as standard, some are also available as optional upgrades. Some of the key safety features of the Audi Q5 2022 are:
Are There Any Changes To The Exterior Of The Audi Q5 2022?
When you look at the 2022 Audi Q5, the biggest difference from the 2022 MY is the dark ambiance that the car brings. This can be attributed to the fact that Audi has set the standard S-Line Appearance Package for the Q5 2022 which is a bonus. Besides the aggressive look, it also looks domineering and elegant for the price offered. You get Ironman-inspired LED headlights up front along with a caged grille design that’s very different from the single-frame grille that preceded it, all of which enhance its serious character. With 7 colors to choose from, Audi also offers you the chance to get a custom color for an additional $3,900.
As you move from the front to the side, you will notice the main difference between the Audi Q5 Sportback 2022 and the traditional Q5 2022. While the Sportback has a slightly longer rear side, the standard side has a somewhat direct design approach. However, when you move back in, it reminds you of vintage, but feels totally luxurious and modern, to say the least. Riding on 18-inch wheels on the base tire and upgraded to 20-inch wheels on the higher trims, the car also gets a ground clearance of 8.2 inches.
When viewed from the dimensions, the Audi Q5 and BMW X3 have exactly the same weight. Although the Audi is shorter, the weight is higher due to the weight of the quattro all-wheel drive system. The Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class is the most compact ride in the lineup and is also reflected in the minimal interior space. However, the GLC class is by far the lowest in weight which helps to keep it light. The XC60 is designed with larger dimensions, but the cargo space it offers is one of the smallest. Some of the notable exterior features of the Audi Q5 2022 are:
When is the Audi Q5 2022 Release Date And Is It Worth Buying?
The Audi Q5 2022 is scheduled to be launched in the fall of 2022 without major changes either from an aesthetic point of view or any of the onboard features. While the S-Line Performance Package is available
As you move from the front to the side, you will notice the main difference between the 2022 Audi Q5 Sportback and the traditional 2022 Q5. While the Sportback has a slightly longer rear side, the standard side has a somewhat direct approach to the design. However, when you move back in, it reminds you of vintage models, yet it sheds some sense of luxury and modernity, which is absolutely perfect, to say the least. Riding on 18-inch wheels on the base trim and upgraded to 20-inch wheels on the higher trims, the ride gets 8.2 inches of ground clearance as well.
When you look at the dimensions, the Audi Q5 and BMW X3 weigh exactly the same. Although the Audi is shorter in length, it weighs more due to the weight than the Quattro all-wheel drive system. The Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class is the most compact ride in the lineup as it is reflected in the less interior space. However, the GLC class is by far the lightest which helps keep it light on its feet. The Volvo XC60 is designed with larger dimensions, however, the cargo space it offers is one of the smallest. Some of the notable exterior features of the Audi Q5 2022 are:
When is the Audi Q5 2022 Release Date And Is It Worth Buying?
The full 2022 Audi Q5 is scheduled to be launched in the fall of 2022 without any major changes either in terms of aesthetics or in any features that are presented on the board. While the S-Line Skin Pack is a standard setup, it can still be taken as a gimmick to keep things fresh for the title. However, the 2022 Audi Q5 is an excellent example of how the sum of the parts is greater than the individual parts themselves.
It may not have the best fuel economy or the most spacious interior, but for the price it asks, the Audi Q5 2022 has managed to hold its own and offer a lucrative bargain. Perhaps the reason why it is the best seller of the brand hence gets our recommendation to buy. However, if you want to save a few bucks, opt for the 2022 Audi Q5 which will offer the same features at a lower price.
