“MOTOGP RIDER” is a very interesting and good looking movie with very little acting. It has the best and well written script I've seen this year so far. I will admit I was watching the movie for the first time and I didn't really know what to expect but I did a very good job of guessing because the plot is so well written.
MOTOGP RIDER is set on the day after a war, when the US forces are being attacked by an ancient evil that has stolen a nuclear bomb. Motoko Kusanagi (American actress Scarlett Johansson) is sent from Tokyo to track down this mysterious killer. She is to go to Russia, Afghanistan and Pakistan before heading back to Japan. As the film progresses, we learn that she also has to save her father, her mother and sister from the evil.
We are given an insight into the life of Motoko through the use of a journal that she keeps. This helps the reader understand some of her motivations and also why she wants to go into this dangerous world.
The supporting cast of MOTOGP RIDER is very well rounded. There are three major characters who we meet in the film and each of these have their own story to tell. All three are very strong characters and their stories help the movie to progress very well.
MOTOGP RIDER is very entertaining but it also has some very disturbing moments too. It's not the kind of movie that you can sit back and relax while watching. If you're going to watch it then make sure you stay focused because there are some very dark themes in it.
Overall I really enjoyed MOTOGP RIDER. It was very interesting and had some very disturbing scenes, so if you are a fan of Japanese Ninja movies this is definitely one you should watch.
MOTOGP RIDER received quite a bit of criticism for the way the movie ends. Personally I think it was too long. But overall this was my favorite part of the movie and I recommend you go watch it just for that.
MOTOGP RIDER is rated R (Adult). It's rated PG-13 in Canada. The film was shown at the Toronto International Film Festival and was also screened at the Sundance Film Festival. This makes it the second highest grossing Japanese anime film ever at both festivals.
Overall MOTOGP RIDER is an excellent animated movie. It is fast paced, has great action sequences, is very suspenseful, and has some disturbing scenes. I recommend this to anyone looking for a fast paced action movie that has some very disturbing moments.
