You are watching the Moto GP race, and everything appears to be going your way. You feel like the competition is not as fierce as the television feed indicates, and you think you may just win by default! You then make the mistake of picking up the newspaper's motocross section! Your hopes are dashed when you read that the next race is at Valencia.
Then, watch again: Moto GP Valencia. Grand Prix of Valencia Moto2 Race, at a much more remote venue than the previous two races! Moto2 – The next Grand Touring Race, held in the cold north. And if that wasn't bad enough, it's a rain-soaked, muddy race. It could all just be a case of the bikes running out of tyres!
Now, don't get me wrong, I was impressed by both races, and think that they were excellent. The problem is that it didn't feel like any of the races was close enough to give me a fair indication of who would win. I mean, if I'm watching one race and having the other as my main source of racing news, it starts to become obvious that the race isn't anywhere near as exciting as the TV coverage suggests it should be.
So if there is a way to get some accurate predictions from a race that didn't get much coverage on the television, then I'd like to see it implemented: a Moto GP Full Race Replay. This would allow fans to see what actually happened in each of the final three races, with all the excitement and drama of the real races in front of them!
With this, the fans could see exactly what their favourites did and what they were doing to cause problems for their rivals. I think we all know what the podium would look like if the riders had gone at it head-to-head, so why not let the fans see that for themselves?
Indeed, I hope the race replay will be implemented. The racing on the motorbike circuit can be pretty interesting and hard to predict – it is why the World Championship has been won and lost so many times, with riders making the big mistakes and other riders having to race hard to keep their rivals out. For the sport, this can mean big business.
The MotoGP Full Race Reversal would make it so the riders could race each other and see who they have the edge over, rather than seeing who wins. This way, we would know which riders were better than others and which ones had the skills to take the championship home – because we could watch it on our big screen and see which riders really did have what it takes.
If you're not too bothered about who takes the crown from whom, then that's okay – as long as you can watch it anyway. Just know that I would love to see the MotoGP Full Race Replay, because it would be so much fun to watch.
