Red Bull Racing is an established Formula One racing team, competing in a hybrid V8 car under the Red Bull International licence and based out of the United Kingdom. The team has raced on both sides of the Atlantic for many years and was last week confirmed as the first non-Japanese team to race in the forthcoming 2020 season. Although there are several other teams to be announced, it is the Red Bull who are currently considered by most to be the strongest team in the field.
There has been much hype over the recent Formula 1 season which saw Sebastian Vettel wins his third consecutive world championship and Red Bull Racing become the favourites to win the championship. Red Bull Racing is one of the most recognised names in the sport and have had several notable drivers to race for them in the past. The most popular is Mark Webber, who has had a very successful career with the team including winning two consecutive championships and leading to him being named driver of the year at the 2020 Australian Grand Prix. Webber will return to the track for the first time since suffering a heart attack at the beginning of November.
The other notable driver on the Red Bull Racing team is Mark Webber's former teammate Lewis Hamilton, who has enjoyed a very impressive season winning four races and setting many records in the process. The two rivals first met at the 2020 Malaysian Grand Prix, when Webber's car ran off the track and hit Hamilton's car and both suffered injuries as a result. Since that time the rivalry between the two drivers has been well documented with both men constantly coming out with the best driver and most exciting race strategies to try and get ahead of the other. Webber has made it clear that he wants to get the better of Hamilton and beat him in the championship in order to become a part of Formula 1 history.
Webber's former team mate in Red Bull Racing Aston Martin is also competing for his first Formula One title. This season Hamilton has failed to win any races and will be hoping to become only the third man ever to be awarded the Formula 1 Drivers' Championship. The team have already signed Felipe Massa from Ferrari and have taken the first step into the final with their signing of Brazilian superstar Jenson Button. As, well as Hamilton and Webber they have also signed Renault Racing Formula Two racer Gerhard Berger, who had raced for them in the past. and they look to be building a formidable team to challenge for the final championship.
Red Bull Racing's main sponsors include Mercedes-Benz, which sponsors Webber and Martin's car. Red Bull Racing has made no secret of the fact that they want to increase their number one status and are targeting a record breaking number of wins in the coming seasons. They hope to be able to join the likes of Ferrari, Mercedes, Williams and McLaren as the first ever team to win the world championship after the current season finishes. Although Red Bull Racing has only won one race so far this season, this will not stop them from aiming to become the first team to do so, having set the target at the start of the season.
The race on the streets of Melbourne is due to take place on the weekend of the 8th of February. Although not the official date of the race it is known that it is to take place on the same weekend as the British Grand Prix, which is always the first race of the season.
